The River School Farm is a venue for year-round farming, special events, and educational opportunities that demonstrate a holistic approach to sustainable living, bioregional design, and creative expression. We grow fruit, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and raise poultry. Our special events include everything from weddings and festivals, to birthday parties and bar-b-ques, to eco-friendly art camps for kids. The River School Farm hosts a variety of classes and workshops that are open to the public. These include improv dance, kundalini yoga, dance/movement class for kids, drumming, fire spinning, a variety of organic gardening workshops and more! Tucked away along the banks of the beautiful Truckee River you will find Reno’s biggest little secret – the River School Farm meadow, two stages, unique metal sculptures, and an outdoor amphitheater, all of which help create a unique and geographically specific venue for high desert weddings, special events, and birthday parties. We specialize in growing greens and root crops year round in hoop houses, low tunnels and row covers. We also grow warm season crops during the summer months. Our deep organic micro eco-farm sites include the River School Farm, Hug High School Gardens, Patagonia and other small sites. We sell through the Great Basin Food Coop and restaurants. We also collaborate with other market gardeners in our region to sell their produce. The River School Farm works in a cooperative manner with other farmers, gardeners and permaculturists. One of our goals is to advocate, teach, and demonstrate how to grow 20% of our food in the Truckee Meadows by 2020.
